The Fomena deputy-elect’s campaign team says it is ready to meet with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on proposals to rejoin its fold.
Andrews Amoako Asiamah’s camp, however, says that because the party painfully rejected them, they will wait for the PNP to approach them before making any decisions.
President Akufo-Addo in his election campaign said that he cannot work with any independent candidate.
The PNP general secretary, in a statement in October, fired the party’s Fomena parliamentarian after he declared his intention to act alone.
In an interview with Nhyira FM on Thursday, the special aid to the elected deputy, Seth Oduro said that the team has nothing against President Akufo-Addo and the PNP party.
He insisted that with the way lawyer Asiamah and his supporters were expelled from the party, the party would have to take the first step.
“Remember that John Boadu issued a statement to fire lawyer Asiamah and all his followers. In doing so, he informed everyone that we are no longer members of the party. So if you need us, why would you think we will contact you first? “, Said.
Oduro, however, added that any decision made by lawyer Asiamah will be in consultation with the Liberation Movement that supported him until victory.
