Overlord of the traditional Waala area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV has praised former President John Dramani Mahama for the litany of projects executed during his reign as the country’s president.
He mentioned projects that included the Jambusu-Wa water project, hospitals, the expansion of the Wa airport for commercial flights, the provision of school infrastructure and a state-of-the-art library complex.
This was contained in a speech read on his behalf by the supreme chief of the traditional Busa area.
He said that the people of the traditional Waala area are happy with the sea of projects that have been handed down to them, which has improved their standard of living and improved their lives. “We assure you that we are not ungrateful,” he added.
He stated that “the age of juicy promises, delivered in flowery languages, enhanced by ridiculous token gifts is fast becoming a thing of the past and is being replaced by evidence-based campaigns. Most Ghanaians are now discerning and will make informed decisions based on the history of different political parties. “
Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo advised the former president and his entourage to run an issue-based campaign that will be full of civility, decorum and respect for divergent political opinions, adding that this is the beauty of democracy.
“With this we call on all political parties to desist from hate campaigns, since the evidence showed that intemperate language, confusion and virulent attacks have never won the elections. Politics should not divide us to the extent that we cannot tolerate the existence of the other, ” he said.
Former President John Dramani Mahama lamented the projects that were started under his administration but have now been abandoned by the New Patriotic Party (PNP).
He cited hostels and conference rooms on the Wa campus of the Simon Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (WA UDS) and the Wa-Tumu-Bolga highway.
Mr. Mahama promised to complete the abandoned projects and fix the roads.
