The main opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region says it is impressed with the arrangements and conduct of the Electoral Commission in Tuesday’s special vote.
Regional President Augustus Nana Akwasi postulated that if Monday’s general elections are as smooth as the special vote, no one will have cause to reject the verdict.
Nana Akwasi in an interview with Akoma FM on Wednesday December 2, 2020 said; “But for some minor infractions that were identified because some people could not find their names in the registry, the special voting was generally free, fair, fluid and transparent.”
With references to the many polling stations he oversaw on Tuesday, the Ashanti region NDC chairman explained that “the exercise was straightforward with biometric devices and other election campaign systems working.
Prior to the exercise, the NDC had repeatedly accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of planning to rig the December 7 general elections for the New Patriotic Party (PNP).
But it seems that the special vote has somewhat changed the narrative.
Nana Akwasi also called on her party’s supporters to vote en masse to bring John Mahama back in next week’s general election to save Ghana from the non-compliant PNP government.
