On the final day of the summer transfer window, Manchester United finished off Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani, Amad Traore and Facundo Pellistri.
Of those four signings, Amad Traore and Facundo Pellestri are future prospects and have yet to show their performance at the highest level. The Old Trafford faithful still feel it was an incomplete transfer window as they failed to sign their top priority target, Jadon Sancho.
Borussia Dortmund sensation Sancho is touted as one of the generational talents due to his exploits in the Bundesliga. He has added 29 goals and 30 assists in the previous two seasons for the German team.
The player was linked with a move to Old Trafford and Anfield during last season’s winter transfer window. As the season progressed, the Red Devils emerged as the favorites to sign the BVB winger. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sealing third place in the Premier League standings, the deal seemed closer than ever.
Despite the 20-year-old agreeing personal terms with Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund were unable to agree on a rate with the English team. Dortmund were firm in their valuation of 120 million euros for the right wing.
The Premier League club did not comply with their demands, citing the COVID-19 pandemic as one reason the deal never went through. This made the fans unhappy and unhappy that the club failed to sign their top priority goal after chasing it for nearly 6 months.
But not signing the winger from Germany can be a blessing in disguise for the club. It wasn’t just that Ed Woodward had to pay € 120 million, but including the agent’s fees, it would have brought the deal to more than € 200 million over the course of five years.
That’s huge money United is guilty of paying the wrong players in the past. Although Sancho is highly rated, it is still a lot of money for a player who has yet to win a title with any top tier club.
Furthermore, the England international was found guilty of violating COVID protocols. They found him partying with his England teammates Tammy Abraham and Ben Chilwell, along with an unidentified blonde woman.
Since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjar, although Manchester United have yet to win any trophies, they have sent “Prima Donnas” from the club. The hiring of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund would have created chaos in the locker room.

Against Tottenham Hotspur, the team led by Harry Maguire sent six goals and lost the game 6-1 at Old Trafford. Despite going ahead in the first minute of the game, the team was out of the game after 37 minutes.
The team was reduced to 10 men before the clock struck half an hour. The defense was in a chaotic condition while the midfield became invisible in the first half. The game went on to show that United urgently need a new fast defender or a lot of confidence.
Since their loss to Sevilla in the semi-finals of the Europa League, they have yet to rebound from defensive weaknesses. Ole’s men have thrown in 11 goals in just three games. The defensive problems are real.

Fans are miserable with the transfer business that took place, but it could also turn into a masterstroke. The team needs a new defender more than an attacker. The midfield is quite loaded, including the signing of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
Although there are seven central defenders, a leader who can lead the defense is required in the club. Jadon Sancho could have been a star signing and could have put the team on par with Liverpool and Manchester City.
Although, as one of the famous phrases says, “Attacks make you win games. the defense earns you titles ”. The funds left over from not signing his main transfer targets can be used to sign players into the January transfer window, with dark clouds looming over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford.
