WAFA to test the strength against the improved Asante Kotoko Sunday – Preview

Asante Kotoko made headlines on Wednesday after a graceful performance against Liberty Professionals at the Accra sports stadium. Kotoko’s Brazilian importer Fabio Gama was the star of the day, as his fascinating skills wowed Porcupine Warriors fans in a 2-0 victory over Soccer Scientists. It was a pleasure to watch Gama cap off an excellent display with two assists for the Reds.

On Sunday, they will face WAFA at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope on matchday nine of the Ghana Premier League tie. In evidence of their form at home this season, the Academy boys are still the overwhelming favorites to win the game, but the giants Asante Kotoko cannot be ruled out entirely.

Sogakope’s team has won all but one of their home games this season. They appear to have a leaky defense, having conceded eight goals and a clean sheet – the 2-0 win against Berekum Chelsea in all four of their home games.

Midfielder Augustine Boakye, who missed last week’s 1-0 loss at Legon Cities, should be available for selection.

Starting goalkeeper Ferdinand Sabi Acquah suffered a series of attacks after the match against Medeama SC, as he was criticized for two of the goals scored by the Mauves and Yellows. Therefore, he lost his place to Boliver Sarfo in the clash against Legon Cities, but could return to the starting XI for this clash.

After a rocky start to the season, Asante Kotoko appears to have improved in recent weeks following back-to-back victories against professional Dreams FC and Liberty, interspersed with a hard-won draw (1-1) against Medeama SC in Tarkwa.

But the Porcupine Warriors haven’t won at Sogakope since WAFA returned to Ghana’s top flight.

Acting head coach Johnson Smith has been getting the best out of his players and remains optimistic that he will return home unscathed.

This accessory will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 at 3pm on Sunday.
