WAFA sinks Medeama SC in Sogakope

Forward Daniel Lomotey became the first player to score four goals in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League on Sunday when WAFA defeated Medeama 5-4 at Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

WAFA scored an astonishing four goals in the first 45 minutes of play to stun the Mauves and Yellows. Lomotey found a cross from left-back John Tedeku and shoved the ball into the net for the first goal as early as the sixth minute of the game.

After the hour, striker Godwin Agbevor sublimely passed the ball over goalkeeper Eric Antwi with a touch from close range in the 31stS t minute.

Seven minutes later, Lomotey scored his second goal of the afternoon to make WAFA’s triple zero as they compounded Medeama SC’s problems.

WAFA made a forced substitution before the break when midfielder Lawrence Agyekum was removed on a stretcher and was replaced by Forson Amankwah.

The boys of the Academy made fun of their visitors in 41S t when Agbevor hit a cross from the right side for Lomotey to score the fourth goal.

It was an afternoon hat-trick for the former Ghana youth international. After the break, Medeama stepped forward and immediately received a penalty that was converted by forward Abass Mohammed. Two minutes into the second half, the Mauves and Yellows won a free kick close to the box and midfielder Rashid Nortey edged goalkeeper Ferdinand Sabi Acquah.

Nortey struck again from close range to beat goalkeeper Acquah to make it 4-3. With a surprise comeback in sight, WAFA managed to turn the tie in their favor when Daniel Lomotey scored his fourth match of the game in the 1980s.th minute to do it 5-3.

Medeama SC reduced the deficit in the dying embers of the game through Justice Blay when he pulled the trigger with lightning to make it 5-4.

WAFA remains undefeated in four home games in the 2020/21 season as Medeama SC continues to fight in the current campaign. Tarkwa’s team has only won once on the road (1-0) against Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs.
