Confusion among some potential voters halted the electoral process at a polling station in the Asawase constituency.
The polling station affected was Baba Lati’s base polling station in the New Zongo polling place.
Voting stopped for about 30 minutes at the polling station.
One person was charged with hitting the ballot printer in his possession, causing confusion.
The accused was picked up by security personnel.
Since then, the police have controlled the situation and the process continues.
About 20 people in the queue feared they would not be able to vote before the polls close at 5 pm.
But those people were assured that their rights will not be disenfranchised while they are already in line at the polling station according to regulations.
The contest in Asawase is between the incumbent deputy, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak of the National Democratic Congress and Alhaji Alidu Seidu of the New Patriotic Party.
Asawase was identified as a hotspot before the polls with 53 flashpoints.
But so far no significant incidents of violence have been recorded.
The area has been an NDC stronghold in the past.
