Former Liverpool star Steve Nicol responded to Vincent Kompany’s claim that Virgil van Dijk is the best center back in Premier League history.
Manchester City legend Kompany called Van Dijk on John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Tony Adams and even himself, noting that the Dutchman has transformed the Reds into a “completely different team”.
But Nicol has suggested that Kompany is getting a little carried away.
He told ESPN FC: “I think it is very difficult to turn around and say that he is the best central defender in the history of the Premier League because the problem is that he is current and that is what Kompany is focusing on.”
