Young Ghanaian Tahiru Awudu made an admirable debut for CF Fuenlabrada after scoring in the 2020/21 Spanish Second Division opener against CD Lugo.
Awudu, 20, joined the Fernando Torres Stadium team on a one-season loan deal with a call option to Ghana’s Premier League Medeama SC a few days ago.
The talented poacher was surprisingly named in coach José Sandoval’s starting line-up in the opening day match against CD Lugo at the Stadium Fernando Torres on Sunday.
Awudu wasted no time in announcing himself to his new fans by scoring the opening goal in the 65th minute.
The young Frenchman Randy Ntekja sealed the victory for CF Fuenlabrada with a magnificent shot in the 70th minute.
Awudu was replaced by Rubén Pulido in the 86th minute.
He was touted as one of the best young players in Ghana’s first division league during the 2018/19 season, which ended abruptly.
Following his exploits in the league, he received a call-up for the Ghana U-20 team ahead of the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
He also won an invite to the Ghana U23 team during the CAF U23 Nations Cup qualifiers with coach Ibrahim Tanko.
He spent the second half of the season at Fútbol Alcobendas Sport in the Spanish third division.
