Ghana winger Frank Acheampong failed to score a penalty similar to Jorginho’s during Tianjin Teda’s 4-1 defeat to Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League on Monday.
Tianjin Teda, who have yet to clinch a victory this season after seven rounds of matches, hoped to rebound from their poor form in the league when they traveled to Suzhou Sports Center to participate in the high-flying Shanghai SIPG.
But the Blue and Whites’ hopes were dashed in the 25th minute of the game when Uzbek midfielder Odil Akhmedov put Shanghai SIPG in front with a powerful shot.
The hosts made sure to finish the first half strong after Brazilian star Hulk scored the second goal of the match in the 45th minute.
Tianjin Teda had a glorious opportunity to get back into the game after being awarded a penalty a few seconds later.
However, captain Frank Acheampong’s poorly executed Jorginho-style kick was comfortably saved by Junling Yan.
Second-half goals from Marko Aunautovic and Oscar gave Shanghai SIPG a 4-0 lead before Honglue Zhao scored a consolation for the visitors in the 92nd minute.
