The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Monday, December 28, 2020, paid a visit to the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. The Reverend Obiri Yeboah Mante at his residence in Fafraha in Accra.
The purpose of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit was to wish the Moderator a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance and also to reflect on God’s goodness towards Ghana and to explore ways to safeguard that blessing bestowed on the citizens.
The vice president and the moderator discussed a catalog of topics ranging from the nation’s peace, national development, COVID-19, and the recently completed presidential and parliamentary elections.
The vice president congratulated the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for its role in ensuring peace before, during and after the general elections. He urged the Church and the entire Christian community in Ghana to continue to pray for the nation.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Mante commended the government for how it has handled the COVID-19 pandemic so far.
The moderator assured the vice president that the Church will continue to play its watchdog role to ensure that Ghana continues to enjoy peace.
The Vice President was accompanied by Mr. Fred Oware, Executive Director of the Bui Dam Authority, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku and Deputy Minister of Health and Dr. Gideon Boako, Special Assistant to the Vice President.
The moderator joined other ministers of the Church in welcoming the vice president.
Among them were the Reverend Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, Secretary of the General Assembly of the Church, the Reverend Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, President of the Ga Presbytery, the Reverend Colonel Rtd Addotey Asare, Minister of the Fafraha District, and Reverend George Larbi, Public Relations Officer.
