Manchester United’s summer transfer business finally got under way when the window closed in recent days.
Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri joined Donny van de Beek as new faces at Old Trafford, while a deal was also reached for the addition in January of Atalanta’s Amad Diallo.
The lack of a fit arrival from Jadon Sancho will have upset many Manchester United supporters, many of whom feel that the club has not backed Ole Gunnar Solskjær in pursuing his main goals.
However, United are embarking on another season with a well-stocked attacking squad, but their inability to add a central defender may be of concern to United fans.
Here’s the latest transfer summary from Manchester United on Thursday 8th October.
Pellistri Transfer Details Revealed
Manchester United have refused to send teenage winger Facundo Pellistri back on loan to CA Peñarol, and the 18-year-old team plunges into Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s first team.
The Uruguayan signed a deadline day with United on a £ 10 million deal, which will be spread over two separate payments, according to the Daily Mail.
United refused to pay the teenager’s release clause as a matter of club policy, instead sending the money directly to Peñarol with an agreement that the second and final installment will be sent next summer.
Peñarol’s secretary, Evaristo González, requested that Pellistri be allowed to remain on loan at the club, but United refused.
“Of course we asked, we tried in every way, but they argued that they wanted the player now,” Gonzalez said.
Traoré ready for United Medical
Amad Diallo will undergo his medical exams in Bergamo today, following his agreement to join United for an initial amount of 25 million euros in January.
The 18-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical examination to make sure his move can officially take place on the agreed date, according to Tutto Mercato in Italy.
Diallo participated from the bench in a handful of games with Atalanta last season, even scoring in his Serie A debut, but has played more prominently in the club’s under-19 configuration in Primavera 1, the Italian equivalent of the Premier League 2.
His brother is the American Sassuolo striker Hamed Junior Traoré.
United saves money on injury-prone attacker
Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé was reportedly close to being sent on loan for one season to Manchester United on the day of the deadline, the Daily Express says.
United were looking for a right-back and Barça player Dembélé was appointed as an alternative to Sancho, but he refused to sign a contract extension with the Catalan giants before sealing a 12-month loan.
In doing so, United were forced to look elsewhere for the right wingers and found two in Facundo Pellistri and Amad Traoré.
Mundo Deportivo Report Barcelona has been shocked by its inability to get rid of Dembélé, either on loan or permanently.
Last season, the Frenchman suffered four separate muscle injuries that kept him out for a combined 294 days, according to Transfermarkt.com, missing 40 Barcelona games in the process.
