The Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) opened a condolence book Thursday in honor of the late former President Flt. Jerry John Rawlings.
The condolence book, placed in the ICR conference room, was signed for the first time by the Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, his Deputy, Mr. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, and the members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC ).
Others include Municipal and District Chief Executives, formerly appointed by the government, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors / Heads of Regional Departments and leaders of political parties in the Region.
Traditional authorities, religious leaders and the general public are expected to sign the book on Friday. The signing by the general public would continue on Monday.
“You created the Upper West Region in January 1983. For this reason, it will remain in the minds of the people of the Upper West Region. Rest in peace Flt. Lieutenant Rawlings, ”Dr. Bin Salih wrote.
Speaking to the media after signing the book, the regional minister noted that the late Rawlings played an important place in its history because he created the Upper West region.
“So we have a duty to cry and say goodbye to him as he joins his creator for eternal rest,” he said.
“I am the 31st Councilor of the Region. If he hadn’t created the Region, I probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to become a Regional Minister, ”said Dr. Bin Salih.
“The people of this Region will continue to pray for him to find a peaceful rest in the bosom of the Lord,” he said.
