The management of the University of Ghana (UG) has reversed its initial decision to increase user fees for the facilities for the 2020/2021 academic year.
After due consideration, the University administration in a statement said that “the 2019-2020 rates will therefore apply for the 2020-2021 academic year.”
This comes after student body upheavals following an earlier decision by management to increase fees by 12%.
Students who weren’t happy with the decision explained that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused financial difficulties.
The new rates, however, were also not approved by the government.
In a latest statement, the university’s management said that “after due consideration,” it has decided to reverse the published fees for the 2020-2021 academic year.
As of this release, students will continue to pay the same amount they paid in the previous academic year for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Therefore, the revised fees for the academic year 2020-2021 will be published on the UG website ”.
