Collins Dorman, a 30-year-old farmer, was stabbed to death in Atechem, a suburb of Dunkwa-on-offin in the Upper Denkyira East Township of the Central Region.

The sordid act was allegedly committed by one Isaac Owusu Boateng, Community Police Personnel (CPP) in the early hours of Monday, February 15, 2021, at Dorman’s home.

The suspect allegedly committed the act after a brief misunderstanding between two tenants about the sharing of the electricity bill triggered.

Chief Superintendent Ferguson Dzeneku, Dunkwa’s division commander, confirmed the incident and the suspect’s arrest to the Ghana news agency, but gave no details.

However, Ms Yaa Safoa, mother of the deceased who witnessed the heinous act, said that the suspect stabbed the deceased without any provocation.

“I saw the two exchanging words about disagreeing over an unpaid electricity bill, but Boateng suddenly stabbed my son in the chest and neck to death,” narrated the devastated mother.

According to her, there were pending issues of non-payment of electricity bills between the two, but it was resolved at the police station, where the deceased was assigned 100.00 GH to pay.

According to the agreement, the suspect paid GH 50.00 immediately, but then the deceased disagreed with the amount the suspect paid, resulting in another misunderstanding.

In the heat of the exchanges, the deceased went to buy food in the town and when he reached the entrance of his house, the suspect stabbed the deceased in the presence of his mother who screamed for help.

People from the neighborhood rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Sensing the danger of the young man who wanted to pounce on him, the suspect locked himself in his room and informed the police of his scandalous act.

Fortunately, the timely intervention of the police saved the suspect from being lynched while the young man burned tires to demonstrate against the despicable act.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Dunkwa St. Mark Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.
