Sergiño Dest and Yunus Musah took over La Liga matchday 14 on Saturday morning when FC Barcelona hosted Valencia in a 2-2 draw.
The United States men’s team has a bright future for the next two World Cups, as their players are making a difference in the top-tier European leagues. On Saturday morning, Sergiño Dest started with FC Barcelona and Yunus Musah with Valencia on matchday 14 of LaLiga, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
For the first time in LaLiga history, two American players faced each other and did so with two of the most important teams in the league. The Valencia winger has 14 appearances in all competitions and scored in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday to help keep his team’s hopes alive in the tournament.
Unfortunately for Musah, he had to be a substitute in the 42nd minute of the game against Barcelona due to injury. The 18-year-old renewed his contract with Valencia until June 2026 due to his impressive performances this season and even made his debut for the United States men’s team in the international break in November.
Sergiño Dest
The 20-year-old made his seventh start for FC Barcelona in the draw against Valencia and has become a key player in coach Ronald Koeman’s defense. Sergiño Dest has a total of 14 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona and scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League.
Sadly, the other United States international who was available for this match, Konrad de la Fuente, saw no minutes. The Barça forward was on the bench, but Koeman decided not to put him in.
