A 23-year-old cleaner, Emelia Kudaya, who allegedly stole two HP all-in-one desktop computers valued at GH ¢ 10,000 belonging to Enterprise Life Limited, appeared in Accra Circuit Court.
Emelia Kudaya was on the dock with Musah Bahari, a 33-year-old phone repairman who allegedly bought the stolen items.
Emelia is in custody for stealing and Bahari faces a dishonest reception charge. They have pleaded not guilty.
The Court presided over by Mrs. Priscilla Dapaah Mireku admitted them to bail for the sum of GH ¢ 10,000 with two bonds that must be remunerated.
The two defendants are expected to reappear on November 24.
The facts narrated by Chief Inspector Prosecutor John SK Gohoho are that Marion Sakyi, an insurer at the Enterprise Life Limited branch, Nima, on October 10 this year, left her HP all-in-one desktop computer in her office as The company was running a shift system due to COVID 19.
However, Chief Inspector of Police Gohoho said that on October 22 of this year, Sakyi resumed work only to discover that his computer was nowhere to be found.
The prosecution said a search was carried out, but to no avail.
According to Chief Inspector Gohoho, during the investigation, one of the security guards reported the loss of his mobile phone and on the same day, another security guard went to the Nima roundabout to repair his mobile phone and saw the lost mobile phone at the Bahari store.
The prosecution said the security guard confronted Bahari about where he got the mobile phone. Bahari admitted to buying the mobile phone from Emelia.
The prosecution said Emelia was arrested and confessed to stealing the two HP all-in-one computers and selling them at the cost of GH ¢ 300.00 and GH ¢ 350 respectively to Bahari.
“Emelia also confessed to stealing the mobile phone and selling it to Bahari,” he added.
The prosecution said that when Bahari was arrested, he confessed to police that he received the two computers from Emelia, but sold them to Christian Nyarko, who is a fugitive.
