Two pregnant girls included; A nursing mother is participating in the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Sissala East Township of the Upper West region.

The nursing mother who gave only one day to the exam showed a high level of determination when she managed to join her colleagues in writing the article in English.

This was observed during a follow-up visit by Mr. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, the High West Regional Vice Minister, Mr. Karim Nanyua, the Sissala East Municipal Executive Director (MCE) and Mr. Cornelius Langsintuo, the Examination Officer of the Municipal Directorate of Education.

According to the Examination Officer, a total of 1,101 candidates, including 562 girls and 539 boys, were writing the BECE 2020 in the Municipality.

He reported that so far the examination process was simple as no incidents were recorded.

Issahaku, who is also the 2020 New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Sissala West constituency, advised candidates to focus on their books and avoid any bad practice in exams.

The deputy counselor again advised candidates to strive to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols to be safe throughout the examination period.

Nanyua said the government would provide them with everything they needed to comfortably write their documents safely and without any challenge.

Meanwhile, GNA observed that nasal masks and disinfectants were distributed to all candidates who placed them by their side while they presented themselves for the exam.

Earlier, the Sissala Youth Forum, a coordinating body of the Sissala Union, issued a statement wishing the candidates the best in the exam.

“The Sissala Youth Forum further encouraged all stakeholders to play their respective roles more responsibly taking into account the rules and regulations of this important academic exercise,” the statement said.
