Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia got Nima excited Wednesday afternoon when his entourage stormed the twin Ayawaso East and North constituencies on the second day of their Greater Accra regional tour.

After kicking off his tour of Greater Accra on Tuesday, the vice president took his campaign to the Zongos and the tumultuous reception that welcomed him proved that he had indeed returned home.

Dr. Bawumia’s delegation, which included PNP parliamentary candidates for Awayawo East and North, Pater Mireku, and Alhaji Manaf was joined by a crowd that walked slowly from the Nima roundabout to Kawokudi Park in Kanda, where a large durbar of heads and magnets were held.

As the delegation set out to start the walk at the Nima roundabout in the morning, it became clear that the massive and enthusiastic crowd would not make it possible for the vice president to walk with them, as everyone wanted to see him.

In the end, he had to stand in his car, recognize the crowd, and be able to move with them at a snail’s pace.

Others, who were so eager to catch a glimpse of Bawumia, had to climb the streets as much as possible, including buildings, cars, and tables to greet the vice president.

Two things dominated the two-hour-plus walk, and they were the popular PNP re-election sign, the 4 raised fingers indicating 4 more years for Nana, as well as a reverberating chorus of “we don’t want funeral homes, we don’t want deposits.” Mortuary “, in apparent reference to the NDC standard-bearer, former President Mahama’s promise to build morgue in Zongos.

The crowd mocked Mahama’s promise, amid chanting of popular campaign tunes in support of the PNP.

Creative members of the crowd instantly coined lyrics ridiculing Mahama’s death promise and praised Akufo-Addo and Bawumia for focusing on education.

Dr. Bawumia and the parliamentary candidates made intermittent stops to address the crowd and the people of Nima through loyd speakers.

Interestingly, when the vice president and the crowd arrived in Nima, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso North, Yusif Jajah, left his party office with others to take a look.

He was seen for help from the vice president and both the vice president and the candidate exchanged courtesies.

4 plus 4 nana to do more

At the end of the walk in Kawokudi Park, Vice President Bawumia told community elders that President Akuffo-Addo has remained loyal to Zongos after fulfilling his promise to establish the Zongo Development Fund to accelerate and prioritize the development in Zongos.

Dr. Bawumia said that in less than four years the Zongo Development Fund has embarked on massive development projects in infrastructure, education, health, sports, water and sanitation, as well as vocational training.

He cited several examples of completed and ongoing Zongo Development Fund projects, adding that the Fund has sent 40 students from the Zongo communities with a scholarship to study medicine in Cuba.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that no government in Ghana’s history has paid more attention to Zongos than Nana Akufo-Addo, and urged the people of Zongo to continue supporting the president by giving him 4 more years to do more for them.
