Tsatsu Tsikata wants Judge Honyenuga to recuse himself from Peter Amewu’s case

Tsatsu Tsikata, the attorney for the residents of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi (SALL), has opposed the panel of Supreme Court Justice Judge Clemence Jackson Honyenuga as part of the justices hearing a motion brought by the Attorney General, Gloria A. Akuffo, challenging a court order imposed on the swearing-in of Hohoe’s elected Member of Parliament, John Peter Amewu.

According to him, there is a real probability of bias from Judge Horyenuga due to his long-standing relationship with John Peter Amewu.

It also indicated that Mr. Amewu has made statements about his relationship with the Supreme Court judge.

Therefore, Mr. Tsikata and his team are asking the judge to abstain from the case or to be allowed to establish his case of bias against the judge in question.

Tsatsu Tsikata in court on Monday, January 4, 2021, argued that the court’s practice in such matters gives way to a trial within trial to allow the party filing the objection to establish its case of bias or otherwise.

On the other hand, Deputy Attorney General Godfred Dame argued against the objection, explaining that attorneys for SALL residents have been unable to substantiate their allegations.

He described the accusation as frivolous.
