Cristiano Ronaldo has been urged to join Wolves should he return to the Premier League.

The 35-year-old has been linked to an outing from Juventus this summer and would not be short of suitors.

And Watford frontman Troy Deeney thinks he should consider moving to the Wolves, who share connections with Ronaldo in the form of super agent Jorge Mendes.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains prolific despite his age having scored six times in four Serie A games this season.

And Deeney acknowledges that Ronaldo could be the final part of the puzzle for a Wolves team that has made great strides forward in recent years.

“I think I was more looking at a club like Wolves with the Portugal connection,” Deeney told TalkSport. “That would probably work.

“Whoever is doing it is getting some incredible talent. This season I think that six out of four have already achieved in Serie A. You are not going to get the same Ronaldo that you had at Manchester United. I think that will always be the comparison.

“You look at Gareth Bale, for example, he’s back at Tottenham. You are already comparing him with the one who left to go to Madrid.

“You’re still going to get goals from Ronaldo and you’re still going to get goals from Bale. That’s going to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind, is it at that level?”

Wolves have established themselves as one of the best teams in the Premier League

“If he is available, I would be very surprised if there was not a club in the top ten trying to sign him in the Premier League.

“I like wolves. Is the stranger [compared to the clubs Ronaldo has played at]. If he went to America and went to LA Galaxy. We’d say ‘oh that’s kind of weird’.

“I think the Wolves are creating something there with the players that they have where they will push for the top six in the next few years.

“So of course, like I said, the connection with Portugal and there are so many positives. If you want to go to the next level, then that’s the player you have to go to.”
