Black Satellites head coach Abdul Karim Zito opened the camp just over a week ago at the Ghana Center of Excellence with 68 players. Players undergo various selection exercises seeking a place in the final squad for the 2020 WAFU Zone B Africa Cup of Nations in Togo from November 12-30, 2020.

Tournament winners and runners-up will participate in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for February 2021.

The GFA communications team has been speaking with coach Karim Zito about the progress of the work. Here is a transcript of the interview.

On exploration and selection of players

We examine them using four basic criteria, namely talent, conscience, physicality and mental strength to help us know what to really expect. At camp, they have played with each other so that we can see their talents, but after this, we plan to help raise their level of consciousness, physical and mental strength.

In the selection for the next camping phase

After going through the various processes, the selected players will remain in the camp and those who do not make the mark will leave on Saturday. That would not be the end for those players because they still have a chance and the team manager will monitor them for future calls.

At the player level of players and condition

Finding some prospects on the team, he admitted that the standard has dropped somewhat since the time of exploration due to the cut-off of the league season. So far so good. These guys were examined during the time of the First Division of the League and the First Division, so it could be seen that their conditioning decreased. What we are doing as a technical team is raising their conditioning a bit and then we can properly access the talent we want in the camp today.

Coach Abdul Karim Zito is expected to conclude his selection process after accessing a second batch of players who will report to the technical center on Sunday, September 6, 2020.

All players and essential service providers will undergo mandatory COVID 19 testing upon arrival at the Ghanaman Center of Excellence in Prampram.
