Tranmere beat Brackley to progress – Ghana soccer latest news, live scores, results

Tranmere Rovers has reached the third round in the last three seasons

Substitute Kaiyne Woolery scored a beautiful goal to send League Two Tranmere Rovers into the FA Cup third round at the expense of Brackley Town.

In a game of few clear chances, Woolery came off the bench at the hour mark to huddle from the right post from 18 yards.

The closest Brackley got to the sixth level was when Shepherd Murombedzi’s left-foot shot went off 12 yards.

The third round draw will be broadcast live on BBC One at 19:00 GMT on Monday.

The game was Brackley’s fifth in this year’s competition, and while they performed well against a team 56 places higher in the soccer pyramid, they lacked the necessary quality in the final third to present significant problems to Tranmere.

The win is Keith Hill’s second since taking over the Merseyside club last weekend.

Tranmere Rovers boss Keith Hill speaking to BBC Sport: “It was a difficult game, it was a good goal. They made it very uncomfortable with the two defensive midfielders they played with and our diamond.

“We had to try to stretch the game in the second half and get the ball into wide areas. It’s a good goal and I’m very happy that the substitutions are working.

“I am satisfied with the performance and the clean sheet and we are in the next round.”
