Thomas Partey completed a sensational € 50m transfer from Atlético de Madrid to Arsenal on Monday. His father has opened up to the challenges his family faced in bringing the 27-year-old to the top.
“It was not easy for Partey to go from Ghana to Spain. I had to sell my land and many properties to help my son, ”revealed Mr. Jacob Partey on Hot FM’s sports show ‘Focal Sports’.

Partey played for Ghanaian teams, namely Odometah and Tema Youth, before having the opportunity to practice his trade for Atlético de Madrid’s youth team in the 2011/2012 season.

He was promoted to the first team in 2013 and, after two assignments at Real Mallorca and Almería, he returned for good in the 2015/2016 season.

Thomas Partey has been a key member of the Atlético de Madrid team for the last two seasons and in the 2019/2020 season he established himself as the most influential midfielder in the team.

The passage of partey to Arsenal has left a big hole next to Diego Simeone. They have targeted another Ghanaian Baba Iddrissu Mohammed as a replacement for the former Tema Youth player.

Thomas Partey is currently on the Black Stars pitch in Turkey preparing for their international friendlies against Mali and Qatar on October 9 and 12, respectively.
