Arsenal’s new star Thomas Partey has been selected for Garth Cook’s Team of the Week after his ‘dominant performance’ for the Gunners in their win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The 27-year-old starred as Arsenal defeated the Red Devils 1-0 at Old Trafford, their first victory in their opponents’ backyard in 14 years.
The former Atlético de Madrid player was magnificent and effective for Arsenal, garnering positive reviews across the soccer world.
Garth Cook, who produces a team of the week for the BBC after each match day, was impressed by the display of the Ghana international.
“That was a performance by Thomas Partey at Old Trafford. The Ghana international looks fit, strong and ready for any battle, while his ability to intercept and break the opposition’s game on Sunday was outstanding,” wrote Garth Cook .
“Partey, along with Mohamed Elneny, dominated Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay. I have not seen an Arsenal midfielder duo dominate the center of the park at Old Trafford so effectively since Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit. This is very worrying if they are fans of the Spurs, “he added.
.Partey is joined by his Arsenal teammate Gabriel, with Chelsea’s summer signing Hakim Ziyech also included.
Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmichel holds the position, with Manchester City’s Kyle Walker and Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma doing the defense alongside Arsenal’s Gabriel.
Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson and Southampton’s Ward Prowse join Partey in the middle as Jamie Vardy, Newcastle’s Callum Wilson and Podence of Wolves make the top three.
Thomas Partey arrived in London on the day of the transfer deadline for £ 45 million.
