Nicholas Tetteh, a notorious laptop thief, blames unknown forces after the Ho Circuit Court sentenced him to 21 years in jail on Friday, September 11, 2020.
The 28-year-old father of one was sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to robbery and larceny charges, reports the Ghanaian Times.
Presenting the facts of the case to the court chaired by Felix Datsomor, Chief Inspector N. K Kumekeh told the court that Tetteh attacked a student from a tertiary institution in Ho on September 7, 2020.
According to the Prosecutor, Tetteh attacked his victim with a knife and screwdriver while he was sleeping in his shelter, he stole items from the student including a Dell laptop, a cell phone and an amount of GHC1,000 after which he fled.
The prosecution, according to the Ghanaian Times report, further narrated that Tetteh, after realizing that she had been unable to lift the laptop charger, hid her loot in a nearby bush and returned to the room for the charger.
Unfortunately for Tetteh, he was spotted by some students chasing him and in his attempt to escape he tried to jump over the wall of the shelter and landed in a compromising situation that resulted in a fractured right knee.
He was later arrested by the students and handed over to the police along with his loot.
It is said that he admitted the crime in his statement and was charged with theft.
The prosecution further told the court that the convict committed a similar act of robbery the day before when he jumped over the wall of another student’s hostel in Ho Township, sneaked into a student’s room and took a laptop, a phone mobile and an accessory. on the phone.
The prosecution told the court that the self-proclaimed driver and installer of the satellite dish after the investigations was also found involved in another theft incident in which the police were taken to a location at Ho Power House, where the items were recovered. stolen.
The magistrate, Mr. Felix Datsomor, after hearing the case, handed down a sentence of 18 years in prison for theft and three years for theft of Felix Tetteh, which he is supposed to serve at the same time.
Ho’s municipal commander, ASP Alex Yeboah, described the sentence as appropriate and said that Tetteh had become a thorn in the flesh of the Ho people.
