Shadrack Opoku, the immediate past NDC constituency organizer for the Bodi constituency in the North West region, Shadrack Opoku, says that after a few weeks of defecting to the NPP, he has noticed a big difference between the NPP and his old party, the NDC.
Shadrack Opoku recently resigned from his position as constituency organizer and also left the NDC after 20 years of membership.
Explaining why he defected to the PNP during a durbar of chiefs and people from the area, the former NDC organizer said that he has realized that there is a big difference between the PNP and his old party in terms of development and policies in favor of the poor.
“I have defected to the PNP because the Nana Akufo-Addo government has really shown that the PNP is pro-poor and has better policies to alleviate the suffering of the poor,” he said.
“I live in a farming community where many are poor, and to be honest, government policies have helped farmers, especially cocoa farmers, as well as the poor and everyone in the community.”
“In terms of youth employment, many young people in this constituency have been employed due to the ‘Youth in Forestry’ policy.”
While he praised the Akufo-Addo government for its development initiatives and good policies, he criticized his former party for taking its constituents for granted.
“Look at the PNP development initiatives and other policies and you just have to congratulate President Akufo-Addo.”
“As an organizer for the NDC constituency, you won’t believe that I couldn’t even help my own children get jobs, and if I couldn’t help my own children, how could I help the people in my constituency?”
“The big difference between the NPP and the NDC is that just after a week of defecting to the NPP, I have been able to help some young people from the constituency get jobs as forest officers.
The former NDC organizer urged his constituents and Ghanaians to support President Akufo-Addo to ensure further development.
