Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that the public service is not operating at its highest level because it lacks adequate human resources.

He said more young people would be employed to fill the vacancies over a 4-year period to allow public institutions to function as they should in the next NDC administration.

He said that the Human Resources Gap Analysis, which was conducted by the party, had revealed that the Ghana Police Service needed a total of 35,020 additional people to allow the service to operate at the optimal international ratio required of a police officer. police for 450 civilians.

Gyamfi made this known at the party’s weekly press conference in Accra.

He said analysis of data from the Education Management Information System also revealed that there were 98,650 vacancies in the Ghana Education Service, which was evidence of a lack of teachers and teaching staff in many schools across the country.

He said that to allow the Ghana Immigration Service to function optimally, an additional manpower shortage of 3,522 is needed, while the Ghana Prison Service needs an additional 7,925 staff.

“The Ghana Health Service is 76,795 vacancies, while the Ghana National Fire Service has 30,136 vacancies,” he added.

Gyamfi said that the Local Government Service, which was responsible for coordinating the government’s decentralization agenda to bring development to Ghanaians’ doorsteps, needed 11,208 additional employees, while the Forestry Commission, another state agency, needed more than 1,200 new employees to effectively coordinate their conservation. and management activities.

“The next Mahama government is committed to creating sustainable jobs for the people of Ghana because they deserve a decent job in order to afford a decent life for themselves and their families,” he added.
