Youth groups from the Juaben municipality have walked through some of the main streets of the city to preach peace before the general elections on December 7.
The event that was organized by the Municipal Directorate of the National Youth Authority (NYA) in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) aimed to encourage young people to recognize and defend the relevance of cooperation and tolerance politics in the next elections.
Ms. Gloria Adams, NYA City Director, told Ghana News Agency during the walk that youth played a critical role in promoting peace and a violence-free atmosphere in the elections.
The walk, he said, was aimed at educating and sensitizing young people about the need to use their strength and exuberance to help build the nation, rather than get involved in conflict and crime.
Ms. Adams praised the youth in the area for their massive participation in the walk and said it showed their commitment to promoting peace before, during and after the elections.
He said Ghana had a strong and vibrant youth that needed to be protected and appealed to political parties to always educate their youth to keep the peace at all times to strengthen the democratic administration of the country.
Mr. Kodjo Adjormadoh, Municipal Director of NCCE highlighted the need for the nation to invest in the training and development of young people so that they can lead the socio-economic transformation agenda of the country.
