Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia surpassed the Universal Rapid Response (QR) code that was launched in March this year in line with the government’s digitization agenda to make Ghana a country on Friday, November 20, 2020. no cash.

According to the vice president, the QR code is an initiative to eliminate theft and carry huge sums of money to trade among others.

The QR payment system, he added, is the first in Africa and the third in the world behind India and Singapore.

It should be remembered that on March 25 of this year, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia launched the QR code as part of the government’s digital agenda.

The code is a collaboration between banks, telecommunications networks, the Ministry of Communications and major stakeholders such as GHIPPS.

Currently, around 13 banks and two telecommunications networks have registered in the QR code application.

Dr. Bawumia also asked people and merchants to contact their banks and telecommunications to obtain the QR code that allows them to buy and pay for anything with ease.

This application works when a merchant receives a sticker to stick in the place where he sells for the buyer to scan it with his code and pay with the confirmation that appears on the supplier’s phone.
