The Sagnarigu Youth Parliament has embarked on a campaign to preach peace and unity among the residents of the Sagnarigu municipality and its surroundings, ahead of the 2020 elections.
It was organized in partnership with Yefl Ghana, the Northern Regional Directorate of the National Youth Authority, Songtaba and Nazi Zology Art.
Mr Issahaku Abdul-Latif, President of the Sagnarigu Youth Parliament, said that as a group of young people, it was relevant that they contribute their quota to maintain peace and unity among the people before, during and after the next general elections .
“We are doing this community peace campaign because this year’s elections are seen as very crucial and therefore we all have a role to play in ensuring that there is sustainable peace during the elections to consolidate our achievements so far,” he said .
He advised the electorates to be tolerant of each other, saying; “The choice is based on individual ideas and opinions in which everyone must respect the choice of others to prevent any form of violence in their communities.”
Sagnari Naa Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai, head of the traditional Sagnarigu area, praised the Youth Parliament for the initiative and said the course would ensure peaceful cohesion among residents.
“There will be no development without peace and that is why I call on everyone to spread the message of harmony to maintain the stability that we are enjoying before, during and after the 2020 elections.”
Ms Ihlass Issah, Vice President of the Sagnarigu Youth Parliament Minority, said that maintaining peace and unity among the people required a collective effort from everyone and called on all stakeholders to join forces to ensure sustainable peace. in this electoral period.
