The Rotary Club of Accra-Labone is scheduled to commission a GH ₵ 500,000 piped groundwater system in Dokrochiwa in the eastern Ayensuano district as part of activities to mark its 20th anniversary next year.
The Rotary Club of Accra-Labone, which was established on June 29, 2001, turns 20 on June 29, 2021 and has scheduled a series of events that include the commissioning of the Groundwater Pipeline System on March 27, 2021 to mark the occasion.
Addressing the anniversary media launch on Saturday, December 19 in Accra, Rotary Club of Accra-Labone President Doreen Ashiboe Mensah said the six-month celebrations will include fun-filled events as well as charity events. , including commissioning of a renovated 30-bed Nsawam Children’s Hospital on April 30, 2021.
He said the celebrations have been themed “Two Decades of Service Above Yourself: Rotary Opens Opportunities” and will be funded through fundraising events, member donations and partnerships with other organizations.

Program outline
Anniversary Planning Committee Chairman Jerry Otchi said the celebrations would begin with the commissioning of a well in Alavanyo at the Ga West City Council on January 29, 2021, followed by a fundraising event called Tour De Labone Cycling.
He added that the club will also hold the first PAG Ralph commemorative conference in honor of one of its founding members on April 15, 2021.
Other events scheduled for the occasion include a beach party on May 2, 2021, a cruise on the Dodi Princess on May 15, 2021, a screening of a documentary about the club on June 24, 2021, a cocktail of anniversary on June 29, 2021, and an anniversary dance dinner on July 3, 2021.
Fundraising
The fundraiser conducted by a former club president, Esquire Lamtiig Apanga at the launch raised over GHS8,100 in pledges for the anniversary celebrations.
The club also unveiled the official logo for its 20th anniversary celebrations.
