The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the results of the presidential elections to be declared will reflect the will of the people.

The EC said in a statement that it is still collating the results and also urged Ghanaians to be patient.

“The Commission wishes to inform the general public that the process of collecting election results in all electoral districts and regional collection centers is currently underway in the presence of agents from political parties.

“Commission staff and field officers work around the clock to ensure that the results collected are accurate and faithfully reflect the will of the people of Ghana, who turned out in numbers to vote in the December elections.

“This time, the Commission at its National Collation Center in Accra is only receiving presidential election results collected from 16 regions as opposed to results from 275 constituencies as has been the case in the past.

“As such, we urge the public and stakeholders to remain calm and patient. The Commission will release all verified results as soon as they are received. The Commission reminds the public that it remains the only body legally mandated to declare the outcome of the presidential elections in Ghana.

“As such candidates, their supporters, the media and the public must desist from declaring the presidential results, as this contravenes the law and threatens the peace and stability of the nation.”
