President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a handshake with former US President Donald Trump
In what was intended to be a congratulatory message to then-President-elect Donald Trump, President Nana Akufo-Addo did not fail to emphasize the seemingly strong ties between the US Republican Party and the PNP.
This was included in a statement issued by President Nana Akufo-Addo when Donald Trump defeated his then-competitor, Ms. Hillary Clinton, four years ago, on November 8, 2016.
President Akufo-Addo not only wished Mr. Donald Trump the best, but he was also hopeful that his term would bring economic empowerment, unity, security, progress and prosperity to all Americans.
“I congratulate the Republican Party, the sister party of the New Patriotic Party and a member of the International Democratic Union (IDU), for maintaining control of the Senate, thus presenting the President-elect with a minimum of two years of a” “government.
It is my sincere hope that the term of President-elect Trump will be marked by the economic empowerment of the American people, as well as the delivery of unity, security, progress and prosperity to all Americans. I also have the greatest hope that relations between Ghana and the United States will grow stronger and stronger under his presidency, which over the years has been based on a shared agenda of freedom, development, progress and prosperity. ” the statement read.

I join many around the world in extending my warmest congratulations to the President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on his victory in the November 8 election. His competitor, Secretary Hillary Clinton, should also be applauded for graciously admitting defeat.
The election result, which resulted in a change of government after eight years of the Obama-led Democratic government, has further strengthened the status of the United States of America as a bastion of democracy in the modern world.
I congratulate the Republican Party, the sister party of the New Patriotic Party and a member of the International Democratic Union (IDU), for maintaining control of the Senate, thus presenting the President-elect with a minimum of two years of a “unified” government.
