Ghanaian superstar Kevin Prince Boateng has promised to help the families of the youth players who died in the Offinso road accident a week ago.
Eight players were killed after a van carrying 24 colt players to a registration center went off the road and fell into the River Offin.
The news of the death of the young footballers shocked the world of football with the recently signed Monza player offering his support to the families of the victims.
“I found out and it really saddened me,” he told Joy FM’s Gary Al-Smith in an interview. “I saw it for the first time on social media and I called a friend to find out if it was true. He told me about it and I felt really very sad because I have my own children, one is 12 and the other 6, so it is a great tragedy and it hits me hard, “he added.
Four of the dead young footballers have been buried, the other four will also receive a mass burial with the government ready to pay the bills.
“Like I said, I’m headlining it on the news and that’s why I’m here, I want to help,” Kevin told Joy Sports.
“In whatever is necessary, I want to help. I want to get in touch with the families. I want to give them the necessary support so that they feel free. I know it is difficult, and I know how difficult it is for parents to bury their children,” he added the star of the 2010 World Cup.
The injured players between the ages of 12 and 15 have already been discharged and will undergo a repairing seminar by the FA and a medical team at Komfo Anokye University Hospital.
Meanwhile, Kevin Prince Boateng completed his move from Serie A Fiorentina to Serie B newcomer AC Monza on Monday.
