The National Peace Council has condemned the recent acts of violence in Jamestown in the Odododiodio constituency.
The Council described it as “an unfortunate and unnecessary event that could have been avoided.”
The executive secretary of the Council, George Amoh, who was indignant implored the police, in an interview with Joy News main story, to act quickly in the investigation of the root cause of the matter and in the capture of the perpetrators involved.
“It will serve the necessary deterrence that we are all seeking because obviously the stakes are high and we cannot say that violence of this magnitude is unlikely to occur again during elections,” he said.
According to Amoh, young people are affected by structural problems in the country, in the sense that the lack of commitment causes politicians to use them as a means to unfortunate ends.
He announced that the Peace Council has designed activities to involve young people from all political parties in the media to curb a recurrence of similar violence.
“The future belongs to you, who are destroying it for the sake of an adult today. And we must be very aware of the repercussions of what we are being asked to do, ”he warned.
In addition, he warned that the government assumes the responsibility of guaranteeing the security of the country to guarantee both citizens and foreign powers that the country is in command of affairs and is eligible to manage its own affairs.
