New Patriotic Party (NPP) Campaign Director Peter Mac Manu has revealed that he will soon be summoned before the party’s Review Committee to answer questions about the party’s performance in the recently concluded elections.

Mr. Mac Manu, who was speaking with JoyNews’ Kwesi Parker-Wilson, noted that after the unexpected results, particularly in the parliamentary elections, the Review Committee must assess the circumstances that led to the results.

According to the Campaign Director, although he is not sure when he will be asked to appear before the Committee, he is sure that he will be invited soon.

“We have a review committee in place, headed by Nana Osafo Maafo with veteran politicians such as Paapa Owusu Ankomah, Fred Oware, Elizabeth Ohene, among others on board.

“They have called my assistant, so eventually they will call me. I don’t know when, but I know they will call me eventually, ”he said.

This comes after at least 33 incumbent PNP deputies lost their seats in the recently concluded elections. About 21 of them are ministers of state or vice ministers.

Apart from the 33 MPs who lost their seats, a total of 41 incumbent MPs who lost the PNP primaries earlier this year and therefore did not participate in Monday’s elections.

Meanwhile, four PNP deputies are retiring.

In total, the ruling party will lose at least 78 legislators out of its 169 in the next Parliament. That means that around 50% of all NPP MPs do not return.

But reacting to this information, Mac Manu attributed the parliamentary casualties that the NPP suffered in the polls that have just ended to the change in behavior among certain MPs after winning the seat in 2016.

In his opinion, some legislators after winning the parliamentary elections lost contact with the electorates, therefore, their team cannot be fully blamed for the poor performance of the party if the deputies who are representatives of the people failed to establish a good relationship with your constituents. .

“Many things go into the parliamentary elections. In our case, the parliamentary candidates were unable to convince voters enough to attract their votes. Campaigning is your ability to give and send messages directly to the voter that must touch their hearts to vote for you.

“Therefore, the Campaign Director cannot be blamed solely for the fact that a deputy was unable to retain his post. This is because the way you behave in your community, among others, can make your people say ‘they don’t like you’ because of the changes in behavior you exhibit after winning the elections, “he explained.
