Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the northern regions have seen through the tribal politics of former President Mahama.
Speaking during an interaction with the heads and people of Gbankoni in the Bunkpurugu constituency in the Northeast region, Vice President Bawumia said, after having the opportunity to serve for eight years as Vice President and President and neglecting the people of the North, leading To his massive rejection four years ago, former President Mahama is back preaching policies of hypocrisy and deception.
“A few days ago, the former president, John Mahama, was in Bunkpurugu saying that the NPP government has shown no interest in the Bimobas and asked them to vote for him to be president again.
“This is John Dramani Mahama, who was in office for eight years and cannot show what he did in the land of Bimoba and comes to say NPP, who is doing so much that he has done nothing for the people. This is what I call ‘munaafiki’ politics (politics of hypocrisy). We don’t want munaafiki politics. “
According to the vice president, unlike the NDC, the PNP government has not neglected the people of the north by introducing social interventions that have had a positive impact on the people of the area and generated much-needed development.
“He was in government for eight years and did very little for the Bunkpurugu constituency. The NPP has been in office for only 4 years and if you ask us what we have done for our people, we will tell you what we have done.
“We have Planting for Food and Jobs, which is helping our farmers. We have One Village One Dam, One Constituency One Ambulance, One District One Factory, we have NABCO and we have free SHS. We have infrastructure projects in practically every community in the Bunkpurugu constituency.
“So we know, as for the Nana Akufo-Addo government, we can point to what we have done, but John Mahama cannot point to what they did for the Bunkpurugu constituency,” he said.
He added that Mahama “does not have any legacy in the Bunkpurugu constituency, but he is asking for your votes again. Rather than talking about his track record, he is saying that NPP has ignored Bimobas.
“The north has long seen Mahama’s politics of tribalism.”
Dr. Bawumia noted that President Akufo-Addo understood the real needs of the people of Ghana after extensive consultations across the country prior to the 2016 elections, hence the numerous pro-poor government interventions and pro-poor policies. integrative development.
“The Akufo-Addo government has shown that it is a government for the people due to its inclusive policies and infrastructure development.”
To reinforce his point of inclusive government policies of the PNP government, the vice president recalled his visit to the area in 2016 and how he took note of the challenges of the people, which he said have been addressed, a claim that the Head of the Area confirmed.
“In 2016, I came here to interact with you when I was not vice president. The Chiefs told me about the problems of this community such as the lack of water, electricity, a health center and roads in poor condition. I said it would help if we take office by the grace of Allah. “
“By the grace of Allah, we took office and I am here today as Vice President. We have been able to provide electricity, water and build a CHPS complex for healthcare. We are also working on the roads and the Nalerigu Bunkpurugu road is also being repaired ”.
The vice president urged the people to vote for President Akufo-Addo for further development, and reject Mahama’s “munaafiki” policy of hypocrisy and deception.
“President Akufo-Addo leads an inclusive government. So the next time former President Mahama comes up with his’ munaafiki policy, you should ask him what he did for the Bunkpurugu constituency and the Gbankoni and Kombatiak community during his eight years in office as vice president and president. I should list what he did, community by command we will start the debate “
“The only option we have next week, which will bring development to our people, is number 1. So when you go and they give you the ballot, choose Nana Akufo-Addo and the elephant at number one. And then also elect the PNP parliamentary candidate. “
The Supreme Chief of the area praised Dr. Bawumia, whom he said is the only vice president and vice president candidate to visit Gbankoni and the surrounding community.
He also thanked Dr. Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo for responding positively to his requests for electricity, roads, and a health center in 4 years, predicting that they will win next year’s elections in massive numbers.
The vice president has intensified his campaign in the north of the country in recent days.
