The Accra-Tema highway is a 19-kilometer stretch linking Accra and Tema, a city located on the Atlantic coast of Ghana.

The new separate grade interchange on the Tema Motorway will be open to traffic beginning Saturday, May 16.

The Roads and Highways Ministry, which acted through the Ghana Highway Authority that made the announcement, said directional animations will come out to guide motorists.

The ministry said that “the directional animations that have been developed will subsequently be broadcast on all television channels across the country.”

The five new interchanges were built on the Accra-Tema highway as part of the expansion work on the section.

In March of this year, the Minister of Roads, Kwasi Amoako Atta, said that the current Tetteh Quarshie interchange will also be remodeled.

He said it is to facilitate traffic flow as part of the project, which will also see the 19-kilometer double-carriageway converted into six lanes.

The traveling public and motorists have been advised to drive with caution, adhere to the Road Safety Regulations and respect directional signage.
