The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations (MELR) urged the public to ignore reports circulating in the media that suggest it is spending a certain amount of money as a relief package for Ghanaians.
This amount was reported as a buffer package in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
This follows reports on social media and other media outlets asking the public to log into a website (https://bit.ly/Ghana-funds) to access an amount of 1,200 Ghana Cedis ( GHc1,200.00) as government aid to sustain the Ghanaian public during the COVID-19 crises.
The alleged amount was to be disbursed by the Ministry.
However, a statement issued Monday by the Ministry’s Public Affairs Unit and copied to the Ghana News Agency said that the alleged reports were false and therefore should not be taken into account by the public.
“The Ministry wishes to inform the general public that it is not in charge of said disbursement. It is being perpetrated by scammers and should be ignored. “
The statement also urged the public to take note of the only website operated by the Ministry which is: www.melr.gov.gh to avoid being a victim of said reports.
