3Sports, the sports department of the leading television network TV3, will hold a debate on September 30 for four of the main political parties in the country, NPP, NDC, PNC and PPP.
The debate, which airs at 9 p.m., is intended to provide the parties with an opportunity to discuss their policy statement on sports as reflected in their 2021-2025 manifestos.
The event will be held at the McDan La Town Park in La, Accra, and will see parties taking turns answering questions from hosts Thierry Nyann and Eva Okyere.
Juliet Bawuah, director of the sports group at Media General, says the debate presents the parties with a huge platform to elevate the discourse around the promises of the manifesto, as far as sport is concerned.
“The 3Sports debate is intended to subject the promises made by political parties in the area of sports in the respective manifestos to strict scrutiny.
“It also gives them an opportunity to talk about what they’ve already done. We want to get away from the time when the conversation turns into something simple and mentioned simply because the promise had to be made to probe and get real answers.
“It is an important way to elevate the discourse and we are happy to have the cooperation of the parties.”
Alex Agyekum, a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports and spokesperson for the ruling NPP on Sports, will represent the ruling party.
Former Sports and Youth Minister and NDC Sports Spokesperson Nii Lantey Vanderpuye will represent the main NDC opposition.
Awudu Ishaq and Nana Afari Gyan will represent PNC and PPP respectively.
The event will also alternately air on 3FM 92.7.
