Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said that Ghana would be a different place when the country begins to realize the full impact of the free upper secondary education (SHS) policy in 10 to 15 years.

“We may not see the full impact of the free SHS now, but in another 10-15 years, Ghana will be a different place, because we will have an educated workforce.”

The vice president was addressing a colorful durbar of chiefs and people from the traditional Afutuakwa area in Assin Fosu.

“Our biggest initiative is the SHS Free policy. In 2016 they told us that it would not be possible, but with prudent economic management we have succeeded, ”he added.

Dr Bawumia believed that the December 7 elections would be a determining factor in the future of the country and advised Ghanaians not to make the mistake of bringing the NDC back, emphasizing that the NDC had a lousy record in managing the economy.

The vice president said that the PNP had a better record of managing the economy and, as such, the administration led by President Akufo-Addo had shown that in the past four years it was worth another four years.

Therefore, he implored Ghanaians to vote for the PNP to continue with the implementation of its many development policies to keep the country growing.

Dr. Bawumia referred to the tenure of former President Kufuor when he introduced many interventions to solve the financial crisis that he hit.

The interventions, which he left behind included; National Health Insurance, free maternal care, National Youth Employment, Capitation Allowance, School Meals and Metro Mass Transit, but the NDC government screwed it all up, he added.

Kennedy Agyepong, MP from Assin Central, said Ghana’s free education system is one of the best in the world, and said that even America’s free education system does not offer student accommodation.

He said that the dreams of many bright students were closed in the past simply due to the inability of their parents to pay their school fees and implored members of the PNP to know the good works of the party and work hard to ensure a convincing victory for a more progress. and development.

Nana Kutsin Amoah III, Assin Abakomahene from the Afutuakwa Traditional Area called on the government to address the deplorable state of the roads in the Assin enclave.

“We are grateful for the good work you have done. We are solidly behind you. We give you four more, but don’t forget Assinman. I can assure you that victory will be yours on December 7, “he said.

He also called on the government to turn Obiri Yeboah SHS into a model school.

Previously, the vice president interacted with staff and students at Assinman Nursing and Midwifery College, where he promised to facilitate the school’s accreditation process.

He also promised to provide the school with a bus, laptops and other logistics to facilitate teaching and learning after the school principal, Ms Ophelia Nkrumah, presented her challenges.
