Hearts of Oak managing director Frederick Moore has detailed why Carlos Pinto left the club just a week after his appointment and asked his fans to join coach Edward Odoom before next season.
Pinto left the phobians eight days after his appointment was announced.
The Portuguese tactician is reported to have left Ghana for his country after a disagreement with the club’s board of directors over the assistant coach.
But Frederick Moore says the coach left to attend to family problems and revealed that he could return to the club.
“It is true that the coach is back, but much of what is happening on social media is not entirely true,” Moore said on Kumasi FM.
“He has returned for a variety of reasons; the son and the wife have contracted Covid-19 and he has gone to see them, I even had a chat with him tonight. “
“I don’t want to focus on Carlos Vaz Pinto. The priority of any fan should be that we win and not who is in charge of the team.
“Pinto did not leave on bad terms and if all goes well he could come back, but we are building an academy and we need a football director and we can’t wait if he doesn’t come back in five or six weeks. Accra Hearts of Oak is bigger than an individual and Pinto himself knows it. “
“The noise of which coach is running the team doesn’t help the guys, they need to focus and win.”
Odoom is said to be one of the main reasons why Carlos Pinto left work because he did not want to work with him.
“The most important thing is that Hearts win the league and that’s what matters and not whether Odoom or someone else will be the head coach.”
“Coach Odoom has a contract, he has the support of me and the board, we fully support him.”
“Honestly, this is not the time to talk about Odoom or anyone, but the focus should be on winning, maybe somewhere in the middle of the league we’ll talk about that.”
“The rumors that I was fired don’t worry me, it’s like water under the bridge, the most important thing is that the Hearts win.”
