The Managing Director of the State Transportation Company (STC), Nana Akomea, has touted that the New Patriotic Party (PNP) has performed better in industrialization than any other government of the Fourth Republic.

According to him, “the PNP, under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo, has so far created around 139,331 jobs under the government’s flagship industrialization program 1 District 1 Factory (1D1F).

“As of July 2020, 76 1D1F factories are in operation, of these, 28 are new factories, while 48 are existing factories that have taken advantage of the 1D1F scheme to expand and add new production units with a total of 232 factories also in various stages of completion.

“Although we do not have a factory in every district, the progress made in the industrialization of Ghana by the administration led by President Akufo-Addo cannot be surpassed in the history of the Fourth Republic,” said Nana Akomea.

At a press conference organized by the PNP on Monday in Accra, he revealed that as of July 2020, jobs were created comprising 18,811 direct jobs and 120,520 indirect ones.

Nana Akomea explained that 1D1F was a policy strategy that envisioned the government partnering with private investors to build carefully selected large-scale industries that would serve as growth poles for the industrial economy.

He mentioned selected industries, including large imports such as rice, sugar, canned tomato, chicken processing and others, noting that “the drive for automotive development is already attracting investment from global brands such as Toyota, Volkswagen and Sinotruck.

“This is the most determined push to achieve an industrial economy for the country, since President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the citizens, particularly the youth, must vote for this determined effort to ensure an industrialized country that produces and sells for export and local production. market, chocolate instead of cocoa beans, gold trinkets / ornaments instead of raw metal, aluminum ingots instead of bauxite, ”he said.

Nana Akomea added that “cassava and French fries along with raw cassava and potato, yam chips along with yams, processed pepper along with raw pepper, canned tomatoes along with raw produce, fragrant rice instead of raw unprocessed rice, among others” .
