Real Madrid still have their eyes on PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé, although they know that signing him in the summer 2021 transfer window will be extremely difficult. But Florentino Pérez has practically put all his chips on the table to sign Mbappé, considering that the club has made approximately 100 million euros in sales and loans since last summer without hiring anyone in return.
Also, next summer’s transfer window may be Real’s only chance to sign Mbappé because, like Kai Havertz, he may not be interested in waiting. Havertz signed with Chelsea after it was clear that Real Madrid wouldn’t spend a penny last summer, and Mbappé could do the same this year and re-sign with PSG, essentially taking himself off the table.
Although Real have raised some funds, they would have to improvise a hugely successful package of players and cash to convince PSG to part ways with their superstar. For PSG, respect comes before money, considering that they have more of one than the other.
According to a report by MARCA’s Carlos Carpio, Real Madrid “know” that PSG wants its superstar goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and its promising young winger Vinicius Junior. Real is reportedly not interested in trading Courtois to PSG for Mbappé, but they might be open to parting ways with Vinicius, who would fall further down the list if Mbappe were added anyway.
Vinicius Junior could be the only player that Real Madrid would willingly change
There are two more players like PSG, but they should also enter the category of “untouchables” together with the winner of the Zamora Trophy. These players are central Raphael Varane and defensive midfielder Casemiro. Varane is one of the best center-backs in the world and vital to Real, while Casemiro could be even more important due to the lack of defensive midfield options in Madrid.
This summer, everything could depend on Vinicius or Mbappé for Real Madrid. Pérez wants his Galactic top, and there is no greater differentiator than Mbappé. However, PSG want a young star in return and enough general capital to justify the transfer of their second biggest star and arguably the most valuable player in football overall.

It would take more than Vinicius, but given that the other three players are key starters, Pérez might have to risk Vini becoming a superstar in Paris to sign the most expensive, but most proven Mbappé.
