The Ghana University Senior Staff Association (SSA-UoG) has notified that it will resume an industrial action on Thursday 21 January 2021.
The measure, according to the association, is due to the fact that the National Labor Commission did not solve the problems of their conditions of service.
In October of last year, the group, made up of non-teaching senior staff from public universities, suspended its strike demanding better conditions of service, after the National Labor Commission obtained a court order prohibiting it from continuing the action.
But, the group says it will resume its strike because several attempts to get the commission to address its concerns have failed.
A statement signed by the national president of the association, Zukaria Mohammed, pointed out the non-payment of the arrears of the pensions of the affiliates of Level two, the market premium and the non-basic allowance, as well as the migration of public universities to the The payroll system is a contributing factor.
According to the statement, all efforts by the Association’s National Executive Council (NEC) to engage stakeholders in addressing the concerns had proved futile, hence the strike action.
