Roads and Highways Minister Kwesi Amoako Atta has assured the people of the Ashanti region that the Akufo-Addo administration will give them their fair share of good roads.
According to the Ministry’s figures, about 57% of the region’s highways are in “good and fair” condition and under a constant maintenance program.
However, Amoako Atta assured that the region will see massive road construction in the second term of President Akufo-Addo.

The minister’s remarks follow reports that his colleague in government, Minister Agric, lamented the deterioration of the region’s road networks.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto said that the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) neglected the Ashanti region, the party’s electoral stronghold.
He reportedly told some of the party’s bigwigs in the region over the weekend that the Akufo-Addo administration failed in the region in terms of road construction.
Meanwhile, the Agric minister has dismissed reports that he was in Kumasi to announce his presidential ambition over the weekend.
Instead, he said he was in the capital of the Ashanti region to rest and recover from a fever he was battling.
Afriyie Akoto’s denial followed reports that she met with “some top-tier power brokers” from the PNP in Kumasi over the weekend, where she announced her intention to join the fight to lead the PNP government in the 2024 elections.
