Asamoah Gyan business manager Samuel Anim Addo has stated that the decision to announce Andre Ayew as captain of the senior national team, Black Stars is the best decision made by coach Charles Akunnor.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in an official statement via its website reported that Swansea City striker Andre Ayew has finally been named substantive captain of the Black Stars.
Atlético de Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori, who play for Maritzburg in the South African Premier Soccer League, will replace as first and second assistant captains, respectively.
Speaking to Nhyira Power Sports in reaction to the changes from the Black Stars technical team who were silent on Asamoah Gyan and his role as captain general that he was awarded before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Anim Addo revealed that Gyan’s camp did not I was excited about such a portfolio.

The 34-year-old sees himself as a mentor for young players entering the national team and is in no rush to call him out of the national team, according to the GFA Executive Council member.
“Gyan believes that he is a role model for most players and regardless of his role in the national team. At any time, he is willing to give brotherly support to any leader present and is only interested in serving Ghana in any capacity. This is the best decision CK Akunnor has made, ”he added.
The former Sunderland and Al Ain forward was captain of the Black Stars from 2013 to 2019 before Kwesi Appiah removed the bracelet and gave it to Andre Ayew.
