Real Madrid have big ambitions in the transfer market of the summer of 2021 despite the pandemic and its financial impact on the club. They want to sign someone really great, and I would not overlook the fact that the ambitious president Florentino Pérez, who is running for re-election no less, does everything possible to make TWO impossible signings happen. (The keyword is “test”).
Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé are top priorities for Los Blancos, but either player could cost a minimum of 150 million euros. Even Cristiano Ronaldo would not be an easy signing, given that his salary at Juventus is 31 million euros.
To make their dreams come true, Real Madrid is gearing up to make bigger sales this summer. With players like Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Reguilon breaking through last year, Los Blancos posted around nine figures in sales without any signings. So they have an advantage in a Galactic. If they can make even more sales, then they can make it happen.
According to a report by Tomás González-Martín from ABC Deportes (article in Spanish), Real Madrid wants to make 165 million euros in sales in the transfer market for the summer of 2021. Its philosophy is, as it was last summer in preparation 2021 and in the face of the economic crisis, sell before you buy. And they are putting, according to the report, 11 players for sale.
Real Madrid has made transfers available to several players
Among these players are Luka Jovic, Isco, Marcelo, Gareth Bale, Dani Ceballos, Mariano Díaz, Álvaro Odriozola and Borja Mayoral, who will most likely be definitively loaned by Roma for his excellent performances.
From those players, Bale and Isco would get many salaries. Mariano, Ceballos and Odriozola are obvious sales, with Mariano and Odri standing out as the two worst players on the team, especially Mariano. It would be a great relief to sell him as Bale. Marcelo and Jovic would be the most difficult to separate, but Jovic is the only player on that list who can beat Real Madrid more than 30 million euros in one go.
Even if Real sells all those players this summer, which is unlikely given that other clubs around the world have been even more affected by the pandemic, it may not yet reach 165 million euros. However, by cutting ties with the “right” players like Bale, they can save so much on salaries that the overall difference is greater. There is a belief that, for example, Bale’s salaries get in the way of Real having a much better side in 2021-2022.

Real Madrid is ready for a busy summer. Hopefully they can find the right buyers for many of these players, win an extra € 100 million and sign either Mbappé or Haaland.
