The African Games, formally recognized as the All-Africa Games or the Pan African Games, are a multi-sport continental event held every four years.
The games are organized by the African Union with the Association of African National Olympic Committees and the Association of African Sports Confederations.
The 2023 games that will take place in Ghana will be exciting and fascinating. With that in mind, a nine-member committee including the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee has been established to oversee the planning of a successful tournament.
An Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) strategy has been initiated for the construction of a new 50,000-venue Olympic Stadium for the 2023 Africa Games in Ghana.
The stadium will be located in Borteyman in the Greater Accra region. The construction of the Olympic Stadium will cost approximately $ 200 million.
The nine-member committee that includes the chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, is also made up of some notable sports administrators such as; Reks Brobbey, Olympian, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, advisor to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms. Eva Otchere, lawyer.
Others include; Dan Kweku Yeboah, sports journalist and Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare, professor / researcher at GIMPA have been authorized to organize the tournament which has been labeled as the African Olympic Games.
They were sworn in at the Jubilee House on Monday, where Ghanaian President HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo compelled them to successfully carry out the organization and conduct of the XIII African Games, the African Olympic Games in Ghana.
Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare is the chair of the committee. However, Dr. Owusu Ansah will serve as Chief Operating Officer and Reks Brobbey as Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
The 13th The edition of the Africa Games, formerly known as All African Games, would comprise 54 participating countries and 25 sports professions.
The Government, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Authority (NSA) must work closely with SWAG to ensure that Ghanaians are informed of the Games.
Athletes and other athletes in Ghana are advised to be well prepared and ready for the tournament.
Ghana’s image is being sold as the preferred sports tournament destination in Africa as Ghana prepares to host and host the thirteenth edition of the Africa Games.
It is looming as a sensational moment for athletes and media professionals in Ghana.
Ghana was granted the opportunity to host the African Olympics in 2018 after submitting an offer.
It will be the first time in Ghana’s history to host the African Olympics.
